Bank workers provide temporary cover to wards and departments due to planned and unplanned shortfalls in staffing. They are employed by the Trust and contacted when a shift or role needs to be covered. This can be for a shift/session, a day, a week or perhaps more.
The work involved is as diverse and challenging as the area the Trust provides services to. This encompasses the City through to East London – an area that has been home over the centuries to people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. It is said of the area that it is a jigsaw of life under a rainbow-coloured umbrella.
Working in such a varied area can be challenging but it also offers tremendous opportunities to all staff and experience to people who want to develop their skills and knowledge.
Bank workers in the Trust work in a variety of settings, with a culturally diverse population in an area of great financial extremes. Situations will often be complex and rarely straightforward. However, learning how to problem-solve, to adapt to changing situations and relate to and engage with service users is the type of environment that stretches the mind, producing creative thinkers and dynamic practitioners.
