Work for Us

We employ over 2700 people in a variety of full and part-time posts and making the Trust an excellent place to work is important to us. The Trust is doing a lot to improve the working lives of staff and some of this work is outlined below.

Disability and Mental Health

East London NHS Foundation Trust is committed to equal opportunities and believes that employment procedures and conditions should not discriminate on any grounds other than an ability to meet the requirements of the job. Read more

Looking After You and Your Health

We have an excellent range of services available to staff to promote health, including good occupational health services, access to confidential counselling and post-trauma support following serious incidents. Our Occupational Health Department also offers an immunisation service, free eye checks and general advice on staying healthy.

Support in Professional and Career Development

Our services are delivered and supported by talented individuals and teams, and we strongly believe in supporting all staff to develop and grow. We have a strong professional development and lifelong learning ethos, linked to a commitment to clinical supervision and appraisal processes.

Above all, the range of services we provide gives all our staff access to an enormous range of experience and development opportunities.

Knowledge & Skills Framework

The Knowledge & Skills Framework (KSF) invests in the development of all NHS staff, giving them the support they need to deliver high-quality services to the public.

The Framework provides descriptions of the competencies needed for every post in the NHS; provides for annual appraisal and development reviews and helps staff with their personal development plans.

Under the Knowledge & Skills Framework, every job is judged to have six core dimensions. These dimensions appear in everyone's work, regardless of what they do and cover communication, quality, service improvement, personal and people development, equality and diversity and health, safety and security. There are a further 24 specific dimensions which are included in some jobs but not others.

How an individual performs within these dimensions will feature in their development review with their manager. A personal development plan will be agreed to enable them to develop their skills further.
