3 February 2012

Ensuring Equality and valuing diversity lies at the heart of the Trusts core values.  Like other public sector bodies, the Trust has just published its Equality Information Report for  patients/service users and  staff.

The reports provide the public and other stakeholders with information they need to hold the Trust to account for performance on equality. See here for the Trust's Equality Information Reports

Publication is a requirement under the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) of the Equality Act 2010.  The aims of the Public Sector Equality Duty are to:

  • advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristics (e.g. gender/sex, age, disabled and non-disabled people) and those who dont
  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation, and any other conduct prohibited under the Act
  • foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristics and those who don't.

Publishing these reports will assist the Trust in demonstrating transparency about key equality issues for our patients/service users and staff, and highlight the areas where targeted action is required to advance equality.
