The Child Development Centre

The Child Development Centre (CDC) is a place where children who have developmental problems can be seen and assessed by professionals from different agencies.

 Multidisciplinary assessments (by lots of different specialists) are offered to children who are referred to the CDC. A child can either be referred by a health professional, education professional or a social care professional.

The Child Development Centre team is made up of the following:

  • Admin Team
  • Consultant paediatricians and other paediatricians
  • Specialist health visitor
  • Key worker
  • Information participation worker
  • Speech and language therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Physiotherapists
  • Dentists
  • Orthoptist
  • Audiologists
  • Development manager
  • Pre-school teachers and nursery nurses
  • Early years development advisory teacher
  • Educational psychologists

In addition to the above professionals there is palliative care support for young children with life limiting conditions which is provided by the Diana Service. This service includes:

  • Social care
  • Clinical psychologist
  • Home Care Co-ordinatior

There is also an Information Room with books, leaflets, videos and internet access available for use.
