Adults and older people
The Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team provides assessment, treatment, advice and support for people with disorders of swallowing, communication or voice, working closely with families and carers and with colleagues in health and social services.
We offer :
- Inpatient care for people admitted to Newham University Hospital and outpatient follow-up for people referred through hospital consultants
- Inpatient care for people admitted to the Acute and Rehabilitation Stroke Units.
- Outpatient care for people with voice disorders referred by the Ear Nose and Throat consultants
- Outpatient and home therapy for people receiving treatment for head and neck cancer
- Intermediate Care: community treatment for older people to help prevent admission to hospital and to support people after discharge.
- Speech and language therapy staff also work as part of the Community Stroke Team and Community Disability Team (see separate service descriptions)
