Safeguarding Adults

East London NHS Foundation Trust is committed to the well-being of all people using their services. The Trust takes the abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults very seriously. It is committed to dealing with abuse effectively to minimise the risk of harm to all its service users.

The Trust has a Safeguarding Committee that oversees all issues relating to safeguarding adults and children and domestic abuse. Trust guidance for staff was written in 2008, and is to be revised during 2012.

The Trust works in partnership with four local authorities to safeguard vulnerable adults: Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney and the City of London. The City of London and Hackney now share the same policy. Both have representation at the Hackney Safeguarding Adults Board. The other two boroughs, Tower Hamlets and Newham, have each their own Safeguarding Adults Board. The Trust has representatives attending each of the Boards' quarterly meetings.

Each local authority has adopted the London Safeguarding Adults policy and procedures called 'Protecting adults at risk: London multi-agency policy and procedures to safeguarding adults from abuse'.

Please refer to the relevant local authority websites below where you will find more information.
